Cut up your credit cards and save up for the things you want. I follow this strategy and I can say that even with a young baby and now only one income I rarely worry about money. This all links back to Adams previous posts regarding getting rid of shit you don't need and having goals so that you know where your money should be going. Easier said than done though I suppose

My reasoning is: don't deny yourself things you can afford. If you want other things bad enough, have a plan and earn them. I am the poorest guy in my circle of friends but I reckon I'm the happiest!

Sometimes I wonder if I'd be able to survive on my income back at my uni days. I used to make $120 a week from waitering, and it used to be enough to party on the weekend and get me through the week. I guess it does come down to wanting things you dont really need...

I've gone through this cycle too.... I go out on weekends now and can't believe how much money I spent yet used to do it so much more often at uni. Although back then we used to be able to have a sense for the $1 drink venues.

The more you have, the more you want, the more you spend. Also, when I first became a professional, I put myself under the illusion that I was earning good money so I should be able to have what I want.

Now I realise to have what you want requires sacrifice. So instead of xbox games this month, I got a DSLR. :D
